Summary | Immunohistochemical scoring of CD38 in the tumor microenvironment predicts responsiveness to anti-PD-1/PD-L1 immunotherapy in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). The study found that total CD38+ cell proportion and CD38+CD68+ macrophage density predicts responsiveness to immune checkpoint blockade more accurately than PD-L1 scoring or CD8+ T cell density.
